I'd Just as Soon Stay Sick

The doctor prescribed a new medication for my mom.  The office assistant gave us a discount sheet to turn in to the pharmacy that would reduce the co-pay to a maximum of $50.00  "Fifty dollars!" I thought.  This is because we're used to paying just $4.00 or $10.00 for generic medicines.

When we got to the pharmacy, the pharmacist said she'd call the doctor's office to see what alternatives are available, as the discount wasn't applicable in my mom's case, and the co-pay was going to be $801.00!

Yikes!!!!

Will it make you feel any better if I tell you about the single shot I had to pay $1800 out of my pocket for before my surgery and say, well, hey, at least it could be worse?"

Yeah, I'm guessing probably not.
